HISTORY
This Site was originally built on Avid Hosting and has been built using
HTML as the base language but leaning heavily on JAVA scripting and the use
of included JAVA script files to maintain the continuity of the site pages.
A single routine is used to draw an image on the base page and set up a
link to a generic page used to display a larger version of the image with
or without a title and caption.
Likewise, A common routine was used for all Next/Previous buttons and
another for all the specific page navigation buttons. Note that a flag is
used to enable or disable buttons was required in both routines.
A Nutmeg Links page used the -Games- routines to allow the user to add a
tail to the cursor and a few other nice things. The -MapPage- routines have
been left in place to allow a visitor to see the HTML tags used to create
the Nutmeg pages.
A Switchlist program uses a MySQL database
to store data for an individual user's switchlist data for general
information, Town data, Car data, Train data and the most recent switchlist
generated. This program still has a long way to go but it can generate
random lists at this time.
This site began to experience problems in
late 2004 forced many features of this site to be deleted and dropped and
it was re-created from scratch using only MS-Word documents as source, and
HTML files generated using the MS-Word save options.
Further deterioration of Avid hosing continued and the original NORTHRIVERRAILWAY_COM domain (and at least five other model railroad sites) disappeared forever in late November 07. Investigation showed that it was stolen by porn king Ernesto Haberli alias Eduardo Warren) and are now locked under his name. Continued investigation shows that go-daddy.com (and other sites willing to deal with scum like Mr. Haberli) are now perfectly willing to sell me back my stolen domain name but can not guarantee that its original content is intact. Conversely, any information on that sight could be bought/sold/traded by anyone without my consent or knowledge. It is extremely disappointing that the man who started out with Bible software (Parson’s Technology) now deals with one of the biggest porn sites around.
Today,
December 18, 2007 this site is being reconstructed
under the name NorthRiverRailway.net and will be hosted with BLUEHOST.COM.
